Job #1: Fire Protection Equipment Service Technician

Fire Services Plus Inc. has an immediate need for an experienced Fire Protection Equipment Service Technician.  Fire Protection equipment for this job posting is inclusive of: Fire Sprinklers, Fixed Fire Systems, Portable Fire Extinguishers, and Backflow Assemblies. A Service Technician is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance, inspection, service, repair and/or installation of fire protection systems at the assigned job site.

Job duties include conducting service calls, systems testing and inspections to the prescribed standards, performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and repairs of our customer’s fire protection equipment & systems, identifying code issues and non-compliance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and report. Duties may also include installing fire sprinkler systems.

We are recruiting for a highly motivated professional that has a proven success record. NICET certification is highly preferred and applicants must have the ability to successfully inspect water-based systems, understanding of code requirements, exposure to suppression and alarm systems is a plus.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must have at least (2) years experience.
  • Should be familiar with some of the following systems: Ansul, Amerex, Badger/Range Guard,Pyrochem ,Pemall  etc.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the installation process, plus working knowledge of NFPA Standards.
  • Manufactures certifications, NICET and City of Portland Certifications are a plus but not required.
  • State Backflow testing and repair certification preferred.
  • Physical/Mental requirements:  Physical stamina and ability to perform laborious and strenuous work for extended hours, including overtime up to 25 hours per week, if necessary.  Requires constant (67%-100%) bending; reaching; stooping; pushing; pulling; grasping; standing; climbing tall heights; twisting; and lifting/carrying heavy pipe, equipment, and tools (up to 100 lbs unassisted).  Requires occasional (0-33%) sitting and driving.  Must possess stamina to perform physical labor for extended periods of time while enduring dirt, dust, smoke, fumes, and loud noises outdoors in all temperatures, in and around electrical and natural elements.  Requires constant mental alertness, corrected vision, and hearing to normal range.  Requires ability to communicate clearly and drive a vehicle.  Must possess excellent hand-eye and gross motor coordination, plus manual dexterity.  Must be able to wear/utilize required safety equipment.
  • Candidates must be available to work some nights, on-call and weekends on a rotating basis.
  • The occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Candidate must work well independently and have high level of accountability.
  • Good communication, training, and planning skills.
  • Sense of pride, integrity, and organizational ability.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Accurately complete, execute and process paper work required by office.
  • Ensure that all equipment is installed in strict compliance with manufacture’s requirements.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet all Insurance Carrier requirements.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.  Company service truck will be made available after a specified probationary period that will be determined and communicated if an offer letter is given.
  • Strong mechanical background is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic equipment including, but not limited to: power machines, wrenches, lifts, ladders, all hand tools, drills, grooving machines, saws, test pumps, shovels, personal protective equipment, as well as electronic communication equipment.

Job #2: Entry Level Fire Protection Equipment Service Technician. 

Fire Services Plus Inc. has an immediate need for an Entry Level Fire Protection Equipment Service Technician.  Currently, this is a temporary full time position that has the potential to grow into regular full time.  Fire Protection equipment for this job posting is for Portable Fire Extinguishers.

Job duties include but are not limited to:  Fire extinguisher servicing, shop maintenance and inventory,  and general field support.  We are recruiting for a highly motivated professional that is mechanically inclined that has the desire to train and study for additional responsibilities and licensing.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license and meet all Insurance Carrier requirements.  At time of interview a current DVM driving record is required.
  • Strong mechanical background is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate electrical, mechanical equipment including, but not limited to: power machines, wrenches, ladders, all hand tools, drills, saws,  shovels,  personal protective equipment, as well as electronic communication equipment.
